Ton Kemp graduated in law from Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands, in 1989, and obtained a post-graduate degree in taxation from Tilburg University in 1992. From 1989 until 1997, he worked as a tax lawyer with Loyens & Loeff, in the Netherlands, Spain and the Czech Republic.
In 1997, he established his own tax practice in Prague, the Czech Republic, and then joined the international law firm Linklaters as a partner in 2001, where he became head of the tax practice in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2006, he started his own practice once more by establishing KempHoogstad.
He specializes in international taxation, with a particular focus on emerging markets. He has advised on a large number of transactions in mergers & acquisitions, real estate, private equity and capital markets. He has represented a broad range of foreign investors into CEE and CIS markets, and is also advising leading business from CEE / CIS on their international transactions.
He has been rated as a leading tax lawyer by the leading legal directories Legal 500 and Chambers. He has been a vice chairman of the Tax Committee of the International Bar Association, and has been a national reporter at various annual congresses of the International Bar Association and the International Fiscal Association.
He is a non-executive board member of Tri-Investments Ltd, a manager of several LSE listed investment funds, and of AAA Auto NV, the largest car retailer in Central and Eastern Europe, listed on the Prague and Budapest stock exchanges.
